Water-facing glass
The glare here arrives twice.
RiverTown backs onto the St. Johns, and the river does something the sky alone does not: it throws the late sun straight back at your rear elevation. Homes along the water get the light once from above and once off the surface, which is why a shade that looks right in a showroom can still leave you squinting at six o'clock.
My answer for river-facing rooms is usually a solar screen with a tight weave. It cuts the reflected heat and glare while leaving the water in view, because giving up the view is not why you bought on the river.

Two-story river walls are past arm's reach, so I motorize them and put the whole wall on one button.
Exterior zipper track shades drop the afternoon heat on the porch and keep the bugs out of it.
A dual roller gives you the screen by day and blackout at night on the same bracket.

Will a solar shade still let me see the river?
Yes. Screen shades are rated by openness, and on a water view I usually spec a tighter weave that kills glare while keeping the view readable. I bring samples so you can hold them up against your own window before deciding.
Can you motorize the two-story windows?
That is most of what I do out there. Somfy, Rollease, and Lutron all handle high glass, and we can power and automate any product I sell, on a remote, a schedule, or your voice.
Do you cover the porch as well as the house?
I do. Exterior zipper track shades are built for lanais and stand up to wind, sun, and insects, and I measure the porch on the same visit as the interior.
